What sets Methi Paratha apart is the unique, slightly bitter flavour of the fenugreek leaves, which pairs beautifully with the earthy taste of whole wheat flour. To prepare the dough, whole wheat flour is mixed with spices like turmeric, green chili, and cumin seeds. A bit of salt and a drizzle of oil or ghee are added to enhance the flavour. Water is then used to knead this mixture into a soft, pliable dough. The dough is divided into small portions, rolled into discs, then chopped fenugreek leaves are added and again shaped into disc shapes. Now they are cooked on a hot griddle until golden brown and slightly crispy on both sides.

Beyond its delicious taste, Methi Paratha is cherished for its numerous health benefits. Fenugreek leaves are rich in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as iron and dietary fibre. They are known for their ability to aid digestion, improve liver function, and help regulate blood sugar levels, making this paratha particularly beneficial for those with diabetes. The whole wheat flour provides essential carbohydrates and fibre, ensuring that the dish is both filling and nutritious. The use of minimal oil or ghee keeps the parathas light and healthy, making them suitable for regular consumption.
